A grape native to southwest France, Tannat has become Uruguay's flagship variety. With an intense garnet red color and purple highlights, Tannat is a powerful varietal, interpreted in this case with an effort to tame its austere tannins. The nose reveals notes of dark berries, with plum and blackberry standing out, while notes of coffee, dark chocolate, and spice blend together, revealing themselves both on the nose and especially on the palate. The palate is broad and juicy, with the present and well-integrated tannins providing a surprising and enveloping persistence.<\/span><\/p>\n
